Update (2 April 2025): not much to update.
Dear colleagues interested in the promotion of African languages,
There are a number of pots on our fire, so to speak, which we hope will lead to some interesting news in the months to come. But for now, there is nothing much to report, except that we are welcoming three new members to our Circle:
Dr Budzani Gabanamotse-Mogara, University of Botswana;
Dr Philpo John, Mkwawa University College of Education, Tanzania;
Dr Damanan N'dre, Université Alassane Ouattara, Côte d'Ivoire.
Our network is still growing slowly – I am sure there must be more people interested in the promotion of African languages. If you know of any, don’t hesitate to point out this opportunity to them! Applying for membership is simple, as you know: just complete the form at the bottom of the home page of our Circle, at https://afrilang.wixsite.com/afrilang
What is more, many of you must be leading productive lives, leading to interesting publications and information on language policies and language promotion initiatives, their development and their implementation (or not). If you have things in that area you would like to share, don’t hesitate to send a short message and we will be happy to share.
That’s it for now, keep well,
Bert (also on behalf of Comfort, Sarita and Taiwo).
